The federal government has approved a major administrative decision regarding national security leadership. The Prime Minister has granted a tenure Extended period of four years for the Director General of Intelligence Bureau.
According to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Interior, the tenure Extended decision has been formally implemented. The move reflects continued confidence in Fawad Asad Ullahโs performance and leadership.

Fawad Asad Ullah was appointed as DG IB on April 21, 2022. He is the first officer from the intelligence cadre to hold this senior position after being promoted to Grade 22. His career spans nearly four decades in operational and strategic intelligence roles.

Fawad Asad Ullah has previously received several national awards in recognition of his services. He was awarded the Tamgha-e-Shujaat in 1996 for bravery and dedication. Later, he received the Sitara-e-Shujaat in 2017.
He was also honored with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz last year. This recognition was given for his key role in security operations and national service.
