Pakistan Reaffirms Nuclear Deterrence Posture On Youm-e-Takbeer

Pakistanโ€™s civil and military leadership marked Youm-i-Takbeer with national pride and reflection. The day recalls the 1998 nuclear tests in Chagai. These tests established Pakistan as a declared nuclear power.

Officials said the milestone reshaped regional security dynamics. It also reinforced strategic balance in South Asia. Leaders highlighted the importance of national unity during that period of global pressure.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the day as a defining moment in history. He said the decision to conduct nuclear tests demonstrated resolve and courage. He added that Pakistan faced sanctions and strong international pressure at that time.

Despite challenges, Pakistan proceeded with the tests. Leaders said this decision strengthened the countryโ€™s defence posture. It also established a strong concept of nuclear deterrence in the region.

President Asif Ali Zardari also highlighted the importance of the day. He said Pakistan emerged as a nuclear power despite economic pressure and diplomatic resistance. He called it a collective national success.

He noted that credible nuclear deterrence plays a key role in maintaining regional stability. According to him, the 1998 tests strengthened Pakistanโ€™s defence capability and international standing.

The Pakistan Armed Forces also issued a statement on the occasion. They described Youm-i-Takbeer as a symbol of unity, resilience, and national commitment. They said the nuclear tests remain a landmark achievement.

ISPR said Pakistanโ€™s strategic capability continues to provide reliable nuclear deterrence. It added that this capability ensures peace and stability in the region.

Military leadership reaffirmed full readiness to defend the country. They emphasized that safeguarding sovereignty remains a top priority. They also stressed continued preparedness against all threats.

Leaders also mentioned ongoing security challenges. They said Pakistan remains alert to internal and external risks. However, they reaffirmed that the country seeks peace with responsibility.
