CTD Arrests Two Suspects Linked To SRA Terror Network in Karachi

CTD Arrests Two Suspects Linked To SRA Terror Network in Karachi

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested two suspects in a joint operation in Karachi. Officials said the action targeted individuals linked to banned networks. Authorities confirmed that SRA terrorists were among those involved in planned activities.

According to a CTD statement, the operation was conducted with a federal law enforcement agency. The raid took place on Hub River Road near Yousuf Goth. Intelligence input helped track the suspects during movement from interior Sindh.

Officials said one suspect, identified as Allah Dino, was arrested during the operation. He was allegedly sent to Karachi on instructions from a banned group. Investigators believe SRA terrorists planned to carry out activities during Eid celebrations.

The suspect was travelling from Gwadar to Karachi by bus. He was intercepted at a bus terminal after a tip-off. Security teams recovered explosive material from his possession during the search.

Authorities seized 10 rolls of explosive material, two non-electric detonators, and safety fuses. Officials said the material was meant for potential use in terrorist activity. The arrest is being treated as a major preventive success.

In a separate arrest, another suspect identified as Faraz Ahmed Somro, also known as Toto, was taken into custody. CTD officials said he had been absconding in an earlier terrorism case registered in Karachi.

Investigators linked him and his group to a past attack on Chinese nationals in Saddar. The incident resulted in one death and two injuries. Officials said SRA terrorists and their associates were involved in planning such attacks.

Authorities also recovered a pistol and ammunition from his possession. Officials said further investigation is underway to identify remaining network members. Special teams have been formed for this purpose.

CTD officials stated that several accomplices have already been arrested in earlier operations. They added that efforts are ongoing to dismantle the remaining structure of the network.

The Ministry of Interior had already banned the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) in 2020 under anti-terror laws. Other affiliated groups were also included in the ban list.

Security officials said the latest arrests highlight continued action against militant networks. They confirmed that SRA terrorists remain under close surveillance as investigations expand.
