Seven Tourists Killed After Vehicle Plunges Into Ravine Near Fairy Meadows in GB

ISLAMABAD โ€“ A tragic road accident near the scenic destination of Fairy Meadows has claimed seven lives in Gilgit-Baltistan. The incident has shocked both locals and tourists.

According to police officials, a tourist vehicle was traveling towards Fairy Meadows when it met with a fatal crash. The accident took place in the Chilas area of Diamer district.

The vehicle reportedly lost control and fell into a deep ravine. The terrain in the region is known for being highly dangerous and steep.

Rescue teams reached the site shortly after the accident. Local residents also joined the operation to help emergency responders. Authorities confirmed that seven people died on the spot. Several others were injured and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The injured victims are currently receiving medical care. Their condition has not yet been fully disclosed by hospital officials. Among the deceased, the driver was identified as Ziaullah, a resident of Darel in Diamer. Two tourists were identified as Ali and Sajad.

Efforts are still underway to confirm the identities of the remaining victims. Officials are contacting families and local authorities for verification. The accident occurred on a route commonly used by tourists visiting Fairy Meadows, one of Pakistanโ€™s most popular tourist destinations.

Rescue sources said the mountainous road conditions are extremely challenging. Sharp turns and narrow tracks make travel risky in the region. Preliminary reports suggest the vehicle may have lost control due to difficult terrain. However, officials have not confirmed the exact cause yet. An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing. Authorities are reviewing whether mechanical failure or driver error contributed to the crash.

The Fairy Meadows route attracts thousands of visitors every year. It is known for its natural beauty and view of Nanga Parbat. However, the area is also considered one of the most dangerous travel routes in northern Pakistan.

Officials have urged tourists to exercise caution while traveling on mountain roads leading to Fairy Meadows.

They also emphasized the need for proper vehicle checks and experienced drivers for such routes.
