Pakistan And Italy Sign Diplomatic Agreement To Deepen Ties

Pakistan And Italy Sign Diplomatic Agreement To Deepen Ties

Pakistan and Italy have signed a new agreement to exempt diplomatic passport holders from visa requirements. The move is aimed at facilitating official travel and improving bilateral engagement between the two countries.

The agreement was signed in Rome. Pakistanโ€™s Ambassador to Italy Ali Javed and Italian Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Riccardo Guariglia formally completed the signing ceremony.

The step is seen as an effort to deepen ties between Pakistan and Italy. Both sides emphasized that the agreement reflects growing trust and long-standing friendship. Officials said the decision will further support diplomatic cooperation.

Before the signing, both delegations reviewed the full scope of bilateral relations. Discussions included cooperation in trade, culture, science, technology, and defence. The talks also covered collaboration at multilateral platforms such as the United Nations and the European Union.

Officials from both countries said the agreement will help deepen ties in diplomatic exchanges. It is expected to make official travel easier and more efficient for government representatives.

Pakistan and Italy already share strong relations across multiple sectors. These include education, research partnerships, and institutional cooperation. Universities and think tanks from both countries continue to work together under existing frameworks.

The new visa exemption is expected to deepen ties further by increasing official interaction. Both governments believe smoother mobility will enhance communication and policy coordination.

In addition to diplomatic cooperation, labour mobility remains an important area. Pakistanโ€™s embassy in Rome has highlighted employment opportunities for Pakistani workers. Reports indicate a quota of around 10,500 jobs available in Italy for Pakistani nationals.

President Asif Ali Zardari also extended greetings to Italian President Sergio Mattarella on Republic Day, observed on June 2. In his message, he appreciated Italyโ€™s role in supporting peace and cooperation.

The president expressed confidence that both countries will continue to deepen ties in the coming years. He highlighted Pakistanโ€™s engagement with the European Union and praised Italyโ€™s constructive contribution within the bloc.

Officials from both sides believe the agreement marks an important milestone. It is expected to deepen ties further and strengthen cooperation in diplomatic and strategic areas.

With this development, Pakistan and Italy aim to deepen ties not only at the government level but also across broader institutional and people-to-people connections.
