ISLAMABAD: Authorities in Islamabad have announced new operating hours for businesses and public venues across the city as part of seasonal arrangements for the summer months. The decision aims to address rising temperatures, longer daylight hours, and energy conservation needs.
According to officials, the revised Market Timings will apply to shops, markets, shopping malls, and other retail establishments throughout the federal capital. Under the new schedule, all retail businesses will be required to close by 9:00 PM.
The updated Market Timings are part of a broader plan to manage commercial activity more effectively during the summer season. Officials said the changes are intended to strike a balance between public convenience and efficient energy use.
While retail outlets will have earlier closing hours, restaurants, cafés, and other food businesses have been given additional operating time. These establishments will be allowed to remain open until 11:00 PM. However, takeaway and delivery services will continue without any restrictions, allowing customers to place orders at any time.
Authorities have also introduced new guidelines for marriage halls and event venues. Under the revised schedule, all wedding halls and similar venues must conclude their activities by 10:00 PM. Officials believe this measure will help regulate late-night gatherings and improve the management of urban activities during the summer period.
Several essential services have been exempted from the new restrictions. Hospitals, pharmacies, petrol stations, and IT and telecommunications services will continue operating without interruption. These sectors are considered critical and will not be affected by the revised schedule.
Officials emphasized that the new Market Timings are temporary seasonal measures. They added that the changes are designed to support efficient energy consumption while ensuring that residents continue to have access to necessary services and commercial facilities.
