According to the notification, the Local holiday will be observed on 22 Zul Hijjah 1447 AH. All offices and departments operating under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will remain closed for the day.
The annual Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi is one of Karachiโs most significant religious events. Every year, thousands of devotees from different regions of Pakistan visit the shrine to pay their respects and participate in spiritual gatherings and religious activities.
Officials stated that the decision to declare the Local holiday was taken following a resolution approved by the Karachi City Council. The move is intended to facilitate the observance of the religious occasion and accommodate the large number of visitors expected to attend the event.
The Urs attracts people from various backgrounds who gather to offer prayers and take part in ceremonies held at the shrine. The event is regarded as an important spiritual occasion and holds special significance for many devotees.
While government offices under KMC administration will remain closed, essential services will continue to function as usual. Authorities have clarified that emergency and critical public services will not be affected by the holiday.
These services include operations that are necessary for maintaining public safety and ensuring uninterrupted civic facilities. Relevant departments have been directed to continue their duties without disruption throughout the day.
The announcement has been welcomed by many residents and devotees who plan to participate in the Urs activities. The annual gathering is expected to draw large crowds, as it does every year.
Officials have also emphasized the importance of maintaining public convenience during the celebrations. Necessary arrangements are expected to be made to manage visitors and ensure smooth operations around the shrine and nearby areas.
The declaration of a Local holiday reflects the cultural and religious importance of the annual Urs in Karachi. It also allows residents and devotees to participate in the event without affecting routine administrative functions.
