Israel–Lebanon Ceasefire Agreed As Trump Claims US–Iran Peace Deal Is Near

Israel–Lebanon Ceasefire Agreed As Trump Claims US–Iran Peace Deal Is Near

US President Donald Trump has said that talks with Iran are moving in a positive direction. He suggested that a peace deal near completion could be finalized soon if negotiations continue at the current pace.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said progress in discussions may be achieved within days. He added that a formal agreement could reopen the Strait of Hormuz once the deal is signed.

Trump explained that the ongoing negotiations focus on Iran’s nuclear concerns. He said Iran wants to enrich uranium, but the United States is pushing for strict conditions. According to him, any peace deal near completion would include safeguards to prevent nuclear weapon development.

He further stated that Iran must transfer enriched uranium under the terms being discussed. Trump emphasized that Iran will not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons under any agreement.

On broader regional tensions, Trump said efforts are being made to separate the Iran talks from the Lebanon situation. He also noted that direct engagement has taken place with Hezbollah for the first time in the process.

The US president said Hezbollah has agreed not to launch attacks on Israel as part of wider de-escalation efforts. He described the situation as evolving rapidly and requiring continuous diplomatic attention.

Trump also said that Iran’s top leadership is involved in the negotiations. He mentioned that discussions have reached high-level approval, which he believes increases the chances of a peace deal near reality.

He added that he could meet Iran’s Supreme Leader if necessary to push the process forward. According to him, resolving the conflict could help reduce global oil prices and improve regional stability.

In a separate comment, Trump referred to a tense exchange with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He said disagreements over military actions in Lebanon contributed to rising diplomatic pressure.

Meanwhile, US-mediated discussions have also led to a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. Both sides are expected to continue talks on June 22 under the current framework.

The agreement includes commitments to reduce hostilities and prevent further escalation. Officials said Hezbollah will halt attacks, while security arrangements will be implemented in key border areas.

With multiple diplomatic tracks progressing simultaneously, officials believe a broader peace deal near resolution may be achievable if negotiations remain on track.
