Security sources described the incident as one of the most serious law and order situations in recent months. The scale of violence has raised concerns across the region.
Following the unrest, district authorities considered imposing a curfew in Rawalakot. The step is aimed at restoring order and preventing further escalation of violence linked to the Rawalakot clashes.
Police also launched a major crackdown against the banned group. The central office of the Joint Awami Action Committee was sealed as part of ongoing operations.
Officials alleged that the violence was pre-planned and involved armed elements within the protest. They claimed coordinated attacks were carried out against police forces during the confrontation.
