The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Sahibzada Farhan has been named captain for the Pakistan men’s cricket team for the Asian Games 2026. The event will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from 19 September to 4 October.
Sahibzada Farhan has been named captain as part of Pakistan’s preparation for the upcoming multi-sport event. The decision was confirmed by the PCB on Wednesday.
The Men’s T20I cricket competition will feature 10 teams. Matches will be held at Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi Prefecture. The cricket event is scheduled to begin on 24 September, while medal matches will take place on 3 October.
Sahibzada Farhan has been named captain due to his consistent experience in international cricket. He has played 46 T20Is for Pakistan and scored 1,305 runs. His record includes two centuries and 10 half-centuries.
Abdul Samad has been named vice-captain of the squad. He has represented Pakistan in five T20Is and will support leadership responsibilities during the tournament.
The squad includes several emerging players who are yet to debut in T20I cricket. Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Maaz Sadaqat, and Saad Masood are among those looking for their first international appearance.
Officials confirmed that 14 players selected for the Asian Games squad are part of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) White-Ball Camp. This camp will begin in Lahore from 15 June.
The PCB believes this training structure will help prepare players for international competition. The management aims to build a balanced team for the event.
