Apple has officially announced its upcoming iOS 27 update, bringing major upgrades to iPhones later this year. One of the biggest highlights is the introduction of advanced Siri AI, powered by Apple Intelligence features.
The company showcased the long-awaited Siri AI during the announcement, marking a major step forward in its artificial intelligence development. However, Apple also confirmed that the feature will not be available on all devices.
According to Apple, Siri AI and Apple Intelligence will only work on select hardware models with higher processing power. The minimum requirement is 12GB of RAM, which excludes several older and even some recent iPhone models.
Apple stated that only the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 series devices will support Siri AI. Older iPhones will not be compatible with the new system.
This means many users will not be able to access Siri AI despite running the latest iOS versions. Apple has emphasized that performance limitations are the main reason for restricted support.
The company also confirmed that iPads with Apple Intelligence support include the iPad mini with A17 Pro chip and iPad models powered by the M1 chip or later. These devices will be able to run Siri AI features smoothly.
On Mac devices, support will be available for MacBook Neo models and all Macs equipped with the M1 chip or newer. Apple Silicon Macs are also included in the supported list.
Apple Vision Pro will also support Siri AI, expanding the feature to its mixed reality ecosystem. This marks another step in integrating AI across Appleโs product range.
For Apple Watch users, support will be limited to Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, and Apple Watch SE 3. However, these watches will require a compatible iPhone with Siri AI nearby.
Apple said the rollout of Siri AI is part of its broader Apple Intelligence strategy. The company aims to improve user experience through smarter voice assistance and system-level AI integration.
