Lahore Traffic Police Launches New Facility for Rickshaw Drivers

Lahore Traffic Police Launches New Facility for Rickshaw Drivers

LAHORE โ€“ The City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) has introduced a new initiative to help drivers obtain licences more easily. The step is mainly designed for Rickshaw Drivers across the city.

Under the new plan, Rickshaw Drivers can now apply for driving licences every Sunday. The service will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Manawan Licensing Centre. Special arrangements have been made to manage applicants smoothly.

Officials said the goal is to improve road safety and traffic discipline. The initiative encourages Rickshaw Drivers to follow traffic rules and become part of the legal transport system.

Chief Traffic Officer Lahore, Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, said the program focuses on responsible driving. He explained that many drivers lack formal training and proper licensing. This step aims to address that gap.

He added that Rickshaw Drivers will also receive better guidance on road safety. They will be educated about traffic laws, signals, and safe driving practices. The initiative is expected to reduce accidents and improve traffic flow.

The CTPL has also arranged awareness sessions for drivers. These sessions include lectures and practical training. The purpose is to improve professional skills among Rickshaw Drivers.

Officials believe that better training will help create a safer transport environment. It will also support drivers in understanding their responsibilities on the road.

The traffic police said the Sunday facility is part of broader reforms. These reforms aim to modernize the licensing system and ensure more drivers are properly registered.

Authorities also encouraged all Rickshaw Drivers to take advantage of the opportunity. They said legal licensing will not only improve safety but also protect drivers from penalties.
