Punjab Bans Stage Dramas and Cultural Performances During Muharram

Punjab Arts Council has announced the closure of all theatres across the province from the 1st to the 13th of Muharram-ul-Haram. An official notification has been issued to implement the decision.

According to the notification, all Stage Dramas and cultural performances will remain suspended during the mourning period. The measure has been taken in observance of Muharram and to maintain the sanctity of the holy month.

The authorities have directed theatre owners and managements to strictly follow the ban. No public entertainment performances will be allowed during the specified days. Officials have warned that action may be taken against any venue that violates the instructions.

The decision means that Stage Dramas in theatres across Punjab will remain halted until the conclusion of the Muharram observance period. Cultural events and other related performances have also been included in the restriction.

Meanwhile, preparations for Youm-e-Ashura are continuing across the country. Provincial governments and district administrations are reviewing security plans for religious processions and gatherings. Officials are examining routes and arrangements to ensure smooth movement during the events.

Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to strengthen security measures in sensitive areas. Additional personnel will be deployed at key locations to maintain public safety and law and order. Authorities are also preparing emergency response plans to deal with any unexpected situation.
