ISLAMABAD โ A total of 18 Pakistani Universities have secured positions in the QS World University Rankings 2027, marking the continued presence of the countryโs higher education institutions on the global academic stage.
According to the latest rankings, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has emerged as the top-ranked university in Pakistan. The institution secured a joint 381st position worldwide, making it the highest-ranked Pakistani university in the list.
The QS World University Rankings 2027 evaluated 1,504 universities from different countries. The rankings measured institutions based on various factors, including academic reputation, employer reputation, research performance, faculty-to-student ratio, international collaboration, sustainability, and graduate employability.
The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) secured the second position among Pakistani Universities by ranking 384th globally. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) achieved a joint 560th position.
Other leading institutions included the University of the Punjab, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), University of Agriculture Faisalabad, and COMSATS University Islamabad.

At the international level, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) maintained its position as the worldโs top university in the QS World University Rankings 2027. MIT has remained at the top of the rankings for 15 consecutive years.
