Religious speaker and YouTuber Nasir Madani has publicly apologised to actress Momina Iqbal after facing legal action over remarks made about her. The apology came after the actress sent a legal notice, seeking a public clarification and an unconditional apology over statements she described as defamatory.
Speaking at a public gathering, Nasir Madani said he regretted any distress his comments may have caused. He stated that if his words had hurt Momina Iqbal or her family, he sincerely apologised. He also appealed to the actressโs sister, who is a legal professional, to help resolve the matter through mutual understanding.
The controversy began after Momina Iqbal issued a legal notice on June 17 through her lawyer, Advocate Adnan Ehsan Khan. The notice was served under Section 8 of the Defamation Ordinance 2002. According to the legal document, the actress claimed that certain statements allegedly made by Nasir Madani were false, fabricated, and damaging to her reputation.
The legal notice stated that the comments had negatively affected Momina Iqbalโs personal image and professional career. Her legal team argued that the alleged remarks harmed her standing in the entertainment industry and among the public.
As part of the notice, the actress demanded a public clarification from Nasir Madani. She also requested an unconditional apology and the immediate removal of the allegedly controversial content from social media platforms and other online sources.
The notice further warned that if these demands were not met within the specified period, Momina Iqbal would pursue legal proceedings. These could include action under Pakistanโs defamation laws as well as the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
Following the legal notice, Nasir Madani addressed the issue publicly. During his speech, he expressed regret over the situation and said he never intended to offend the actress or her family. His apology appears to be an effort to settle the matter before it reaches the courts.
The dispute has attracted attention on social media, where users have debated the importance of responsible public statements and the legal consequences of alleged defamatory remarks. The case also highlights the growing use of legal channels to address disputes involving online content and public figures.
