Drone Attack Foiled in Quetta as Security Forces Neutralize Cross-Border UAV

QUETTA: Pakistani security forces successfully prevented a suspected Drone Attack after intercepting an unmanned aerial vehicle near Quetta, Balochistan, late on June 30, 2026. According to security sources, the drone was detected before it could reach its alleged target and was neutralized through electronic countermeasures.

Officials said the drone had crossed into Pakistani airspace from across the border. They claimed it was launched by militants linked to the banned group Fitna al Khawarij (FAK). Authorities further alleged that the group operates as a proxy for the Afghan Taliban. However, these claims have not been independently verified.

Security personnel acted quickly after identifying the incoming drone. Instead of using conventional weapons, they relied on electronic systems to disable the aircraft. The operation was completed without firing a single shot.

The Drone Attack attempt ended without any casualties or damage. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported and no public or private property was affected during the operation.

Security agencies have recovered material from the intercepted drone. Investigators are now examining the equipment to determine its origin, capabilities, and intended mission. The investigation is also focused on understanding how the drone entered the area and whether it was part of a wider cross-border operation.

Authorities said the latest incident has renewed concerns over the increasing use of low-cost unmanned aerial vehicles by militant groups. Such drones are considered inexpensive and can be used for surveillance or other hostile activities. Security officials believe these evolving tactics require stronger monitoring and improved defensive measures.

Officials described the incident as another unsuccessful attempt by hostile elements to carry out cross-border activity. They maintained that the rapid response by security forces prevented the situation from escalating and ensured public safety.

The alleged involvement of Fitna al Khawarij and claims linking the group to the Afghan Taliban have not been independently confirmed. As of now, there has been no official response from the Afghan Taliban regarding the allegations made by Pakistani authorities.
