A local court in Lahore has extended interim relief to Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Saqib Chadhar in a case related to the alleged harassment of actress Momina Iqbal.
The court extended the interim bail of Saqib Chadhar until July 13. The decision allows the lawmaker to continue receiving temporary relief while the investigation remains ongoing.
Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Siddiqui heard the case. During the proceedings, the judge directed the accused to cooperate fully with investigators.
The court instructed Saqib Chadhar to join the investigation and assist the inquiry whenever required. Officials were also asked to complete the investigation without unnecessary delay.
During the hearing, the investigating officer informed the court that the suspect’s mobile phone had been received only one day earlier. The device is considered an important part of the ongoing investigation.
According to the officer, the inquiry could not be completed because the required digital evidence became available recently. Investigators requested additional time to examine the material.
The court accepted the request and continued the interim relief until the next hearing. Proceedings were adjourned until July 13.
Representing actress Momina Iqbal, her lawyer raised concerns about the pace of the investigation. The lawyer argued that the accused was allegedly using his public office to delay the inquiry.
The legal team also requested the court to ensure that the investigation moves forward without interference. They emphasized the importance of a timely and transparent inquiry.
In response, the court directed the investigating authorities to speed up the process. Officials were instructed to submit a progress report along with the relevant case record at the next hearing.
The case was registered by the Federal Investigation Agency after Momina Iqbal filed a complaint alleging harassment by the provincial lawmaker.
Authorities are examining the available evidence as part of the investigation. The inquiry includes reviewing digital material and statements collected during the case.
The court did not make any observations regarding the merits of the allegations during the latest hearing. It focused instead on ensuring the investigation proceeds according to the law.
Legal experts note that interim bail provides temporary protection while an investigation continues. It does not determine whether an accused person is guilty or innocent.
The next hearing is expected to review the investigation’s progress and examine the report submitted by the inquiry team. The court may issue further directions based on the findings presented.
For now, the interim relief granted to Saqib Chadhar remains in place until July 13. The investigation will continue under the supervision of the relevant authorities before the matter returns to court.
