Police have registered a case after a female lawyer was allegedly attacked outside a courtroom during proceedings in a civil dispute. The investigation began after an inquiry conducted by the District Public Prosecutor.
The victim was identified as Madiha Parvaiz, while the suspect was identified as Abdul Sadiq. Authorities said legal action was taken after reviewing the available evidence related to the incident.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident happened on June 23 during the hearing of a civil case. Abdul Sadiq had filed the civil case against Madiha Parvaiz.
Police said Madiha Parvaiz had submitted a review petition in the same case. She alleged that Abdul Sadiq started verbally abusing her during the court hearing. The situation reportedly disrupted the proceedings inside the courtroom.
According to the complaint, the presiding judge directed Abdul Sadiq to leave the courtroom after the disturbance. Court proceedings then continued without further disruption inside the courtroom.
However, the situation allegedly turned violent shortly after the hearing ended. The female lawyer said she was leaving the courtroom when Abdul Sadiq confronted her outside.
According to available footage and the FIR, the suspect forcefully threw the lawyer to the ground. The alleged assault caused injuries to Madiha Parvaiz.
The victim told police that Abdul Sadiq is the opposing party in the ongoing civil case. She claimed the attack was carried out in retaliation for filing the review petition against him.
Police confirmed that a case has been registered against Abdul Sadiq following the prosecutor’s inquiry. Authorities said legal proceedings have formally started under the relevant laws.
Investigators are also reviewing the available video footage as part of the inquiry. Officials said witness statements and other evidence will be examined before further action is taken.
The female lawyer has requested that authorities ensure a fair investigation and hold those responsible accountable under the law. Police said the complaint is being investigated and that the inquiry remains ongoing.
