No Electricity, No Relief Twin Cities Face Hours of Power Outages in Scorching Heat

Residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are facing increasing hardship due to unannounced Power Outages during an intense heatwave. With temperatures climbing to 40°C and the heat index making it feel like 50.1°C, prolonged electricity cuts have made daily life extremely difficult for thousands of people across the twin cities.

Many residents reported that the unexpected outages continued for several hours without prior notice. The lack of electricity affected homes, businesses, and essential public services, leaving people frustrated during one of the hottest periods of the summer.

The Power Outages disrupted sleep for many families, especially during the night when temperatures remained high. Without fans or air conditioners, residents struggled to cope with the extreme weather conditions. Many also experienced interruptions in water supply because electric water pumps stopped working during the outages.

Businesses across Rawalpindi and Islamabad also faced operational difficulties. Shop owners and commercial establishments reported financial losses due to the electricity cuts. Traffic signals stopped functioning in several areas, creating congestion and increasing the risk of road accidents. Hospitals and healthcare facilities also had to manage the situation carefully to ensure that essential medical services continued without interruption.

Residents expressed disappointment over the absence of a clear loadshedding schedule. Many said they received no advance warning before the electricity supply was interrupted. Citizens also complained that repeated attempts to contact the relevant authorities often went unanswered, adding to public frustration.

People questioned why regular electricity interruptions continued despite paying high monthly electricity bills. Many urged the authorities to improve communication and provide accurate information about expected outages so families and businesses could plan accordingly.

The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) acknowledged the ongoing Power Outages and apologized for the inconvenience caused to consumers. According to the company, the electricity disruptions are mainly the result of a 400-megawatt power shortfall combined with a sharp rise in electricity demand during the summer season.

IESCO explained that the current weather conditions have significantly increased power consumption, placing additional pressure on the electricity distribution system. The company said its teams are working to manage the situation while maintaining the stability of the power network.

Officials also assured consumers that the outages are temporary. They stated that electricity supply would improve once the national power shortfall decreases and demand returns to normal levels. The company requested public cooperation while efforts continue to restore a more stable electricity supply.
