US President Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to Iran, saying the United States would respond with overwhelming force if Tehran attempted to assassinate him. His remarks came through a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.
In his statement, Trump said the US military was fully prepared to act if any threat against him was carried out. He claimed that a large number of missiles were already positioned and ready for use. He also said additional military assets could quickly follow if needed.
According to Trump, orders had already been issued to the US military. He stated that the armed forces were ready to launch a large-scale operation against Iran if the country acted on what he described as assassination threats. He added that the military would remain prepared for at least one year, with the possibility of extending that period.
The latest comments have further increased tensions between Washington and Tehran. Relations between the two countries have remained strained for years due to disagreements over security, regional influence, and nuclear issues.
At the same time, Iran rejected claims that it had asked to restart negotiations with the United States. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei denied reports that Tehran had requested new talks with Washington.
Baghaei responded after US President Donald Trump suggested that both countries had agreed to continue discussions despite their recent exchange of strikes. The Iranian spokesperson said no such request had been made by Tehran.
He explained that Iran had accepted a visit from a Qatari mediator. However, he stressed that this should not be viewed as a request for direct negotiations with the United States. His comments were reported by Iranian state television.
Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker and senior negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said ending conflicts should remain an important goal for the international community. However, he insisted that Iran would never settle its dispute with the United States through surrender.
According to Iranโs state broadcaster IRIB, Ghalibaf made the remarks during a meeting with the Speaker of Indonesiaโs Parliament. He said Iran continues to strengthen its defensive capabilities and remains prepared for any possible developments.
Ghalibaf also warned that Iran would respond if the United States moved away from the recently signed memorandum of understanding. He said Iran had never stopped preparing to defend itself against potential threats.
The Iranian official also repeated Tehranโs long-held position regarding relations with Washington. He said Iranian representatives had clearly informed US officials during previous negotiations that Iran did not trust the United States.
The latest exchange of statements highlights the continuing tension between the two countries. While diplomatic channels remain under discussion through regional mediators, both sides continue to express firm positions on security and future relations.
