Murree Police have issued a fresh traffic advisory for tourists planning to visit the hill station. Authorities have asked travelers to avoid using the Old GT Road because major road carpeting and repair work is currently underway.
Officials have recommended that visitors use the Murree Expressway and other alternative routes instead. The advisory aims to reduce travel delays and improve traffic movement during the ongoing construction work.
District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr. Raza Tanveer, said the Murree Expressway is currently the safest and most suitable route for entering the city. He explained that traffic has been diverted from the Old GT Road, increasing the number of vehicles using the Expressway.
According to Murree Police, additional traffic personnel have been deployed to manage the increased flow of vehicles. Officers are working at key locations to reduce congestion and help visitors reach their destinations safely.
Traffic management efforts have been strengthened at Bustan Mor, Masiari Link Road, and Jhika Gali Road. These routes provide access to central Murree and several popular tourist attractions.
Police officials said the additional deployment is intended to maintain smooth traffic flow, especially during weekends and holidays when visitor numbers usually increase.
The DPO also advised tourists to check live traffic conditions before starting their journey. Travelers have been encouraged to use Google Maps to monitor road conditions and identify the fastest available routes.
In addition, Murree Police have asked visitors to download the Safe Tourism Murree mobile application. The app provides real-time information about traffic conditions, weather updates, parking availability, and emergency services.
Officials said the application can help tourists plan their trips more effectively and avoid unnecessary delays. It also offers important safety information for people visiting the hill station.
Authorities urged drivers to follow traffic rules and cooperate with officers on duty. They also requested motorists to avoid unnecessary stops on busy roads to prevent traffic congestion.
The advisory comes as Murree continues to receive a large number of tourists during the holiday season. Increased visitor traffic, combined with road repair work, has placed additional pressure on the city’s road network.
Police believe that using the recommended routes will help reduce congestion and improve travel times. The Murree Expressway remains the preferred option until work on the Old GT Road is completed.
