Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to Meet Today for Safar Moon Sighting in Pakistan

Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet today (Wednesday) to observe the crescent moon for the beginning of Safar-ul-Muzaffar 1448 Hijri. The meeting will play an important role in determining the start of the second month of the Islamic calendar in Pakistan.

According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the central meeting will take place in Islamabad. Officials from the ministry have confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been completed for the moon sighting session.

The meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be chaired by Chairman Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad. Committee members will review reports received from different parts of the country before making the official announcement about the sighting of the Safar moon.

Alongside the central session in Islamabad, zonal moon sighting committees will also hold meetings at their respective headquarters. These regional committees are responsible for receiving moon-sighting testimonies from local observers and verifying the information before forwarding it to the central committee.

The testimony collected from various cities and regions will be carefully examined. Weather conditions and the visibility of the moon will also be considered during the review process. Only verified reports will be used to reach the final decision.

After assessing all available evidence, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will officially announce whether the crescent has been sighted. The announcement will determine the first day of Safar-ul-Muzaffar 1448 Hijri across Pakistan.

Moon sighting meetings are held every month to determine the beginning of each Islamic month. These decisions are important because many religious activities and observances depend on the Islamic lunar calendar.

Citizens across the country usually wait for the committee’s official announcement before confirming the start of the new Islamic month. Religious authorities encourage people to rely only on the official declaration issued after the committee completes its review.

If the crescent is sighted today, Safar-ul-Muzaffar will begin the following day. If the moon is not visible, the current Islamic month will complete its full duration before Safar officially starts.

The final decision regarding the beginning of Safar-ul-Muzaffar 1448 Hijri will be announced after the central committee reviews all verified reports from across Pakistan. The official declaration is expected later today following the conclusion of the meeting.
