US President Donald Trump will attend the FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
The White House confirmed his planned appearance at the tournament’s biggest match. The final will take place on July 19 in New Jersey.
The match will be played at New York New Jersey Stadium, commonly known as MetLife Stadium. FIFA’s official schedule confirms the venue and final date.
Trump is also expected to attend a FIFA reception at Trump Tower before the final. The reception will take place in New York ahead of Sunday’s match.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino previously confirmed Trump’s role in the post-match ceremony. Trump is expected to join FIFA officials during the trophy presentation.
His appearance comes as the United States co-hosts the tournament with Canada and Mexico. Most matches have been staged across American cities.
Trump has remained closely involved in preparations for the competition. In March 2025, he established a White House task force for tournament coordination.
The task force was created to coordinate federal agencies and support planning for the event. It also covered preparations for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Trump also attended the 2025 Club World Cup final at the same New Jersey venue. He joined Infantino and other officials during the closing ceremony.
The upcoming final will feature defending champions Argentina against European champions Spain. Argentina reached the final after defeating England 2-1 in the semifinal.
Lionel Messi provided two late assists as Argentina completed a dramatic comeback. Spain secured its place by beating France 2-0 in the other semifinal.
Argentina will attempt to retain the title it won in Qatar. Spain will seek its second global trophy after winning the competition in 2010.
The final will also bring together two highly respected coaches. Lionel Scaloni will lead Argentina against Spain manager Luis de la Fuente.
Scaloni previously studied under De la Fuente at the Spanish football federation’s coaching academy. Their professional connection adds another storyline to the final.
The FIFA World Cup final will conclude the expanded 48-team competition. The tournament has been staged across 16 host cities in three countries.
Trump will join football officials, invited guests, and international dignitaries at the venue. His presence is expected to add further attention to the global sporting event.
