Former federal minister and PTI leader Asad Umar has been taken into custody in Islamabad, according to his party’s announcement.
Based on statements from the PTI legal team, the former finance minister has been apprehended due to a filed FIR related to the misplacement of a US code.

On the same matter, another party member and former foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, was also arrested on Saturday.
Asad Umar had previously been arrested in May, previously, from the Islamabad High Court.
Reports from the administration had indicated that he was detained by the police due to concerns of potential disturbances to the peace. He was held under Section 3 of the MPO.
Asad’s detention followed PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest at the Judicial Complex the previous day, and subsequently, the arrest of the party’s Sindh leader, Ali Zaidi, in Karachi.
