Punjab Launches Shrimp Internship Program With Rs100,000 Monthly Stipend

The Government of Punjab has introduced the Shrimp Internship Program 2026–27 to provide young graduates with practical training and employment opportunities in the province’s growing aquaculture sector. The initiative is designed to develop skilled professionals who can contribute to the expansion of Pakistan’s fisheries industry.

Under the program, 100 interns will be selected from technical and professional backgrounds. Each successful candidate will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 100,000 during the one-year training period. Officials say the initiative combines financial support with hands-on learning to prepare graduates for careers in commercial shrimp farming.

The Shrimp Internship will take place at the Shrimp Estate in Ali Wali, Muzaffargarh. Selected participants will receive practical training in a professional working environment. The program has been designed according to industry standards to ensure graduates gain the skills required for modern aquaculture.

During the internship, trainees will learn different aspects of shrimp farming and production. Their training will include shrimp cultivation techniques, hatchery management, feed production, seafood processing, laboratory operations, quality control, and product marketing. Officials believe this broad training approach will help participants understand every stage of the aquaculture industry.

The Punjab government says the internship is part of its long-term strategy to strengthen shrimp farming across the province. Over the past few years, the government has invested in aquaculture infrastructure, research, technology transfer, and workforce development. These efforts aim to increase seafood production and improve Pakistan’s position in international export markets.

According to officials, building a trained workforce is essential for expanding the fisheries sector. Skilled professionals can improve production quality, encourage private investment, and support sustainable growth in aquaculture. The government expects the internship to create new employment opportunities while boosting the local economy.

Applications for the Shrimp Internship Program are now open through the Punjab Government’s official jobs portal. Interested candidates must visit the portal, search for the “Punjab Shrimp Internship Program,” and complete the online application form with the required information.

Applicants who require additional assistance can also contact the office of the Project Director for Shrimp Aquaculture. Authorities have stated that the selection process will be based entirely on merit. Successful applicants will receive placement for the complete one-year internship and participate in structured training throughout the program.

The latest initiative reflects the Punjab government’s continued focus on youth empowerment, technical education, and employment generation. By offering both professional experience and financial support, the program aims to prepare graduates for long-term careers in aquaculture.

The program represents another step toward creating sustainable employment while strengthening Punjab’s emerging aquaculture industry.
