South Korean national Hockey team has arrived in Pakistan for a historic tour that will run from July 27 to August 8, 2026. The visit marks an important milestone for international Hockey in Pakistan and is expected to strengthen sporting ties between the two countries.
According to the announced schedule, Pakistan and South Korea will play a four-match Test series at the Naseer Banda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad. The series is expected to attract significant attention from hockey fans and sports officials.
The arrival of the South Korean team is being viewed as a positive step toward the revival of international Hockey activities in Pakistan. In recent years, the country has worked to bring more international sporting events back after successfully hosting teams in various sports.
Officials believe the tour reflects Pakistan’s efforts to promote sports and rebuild its reputation as a safe destination for international competitions. The government has described the visit as an important achievement for the country’s sporting community.
Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah welcomed the South Korean delegation and called the tour a historic moment for Pakistan’s national game. He said the visit would help revive hockey in the country and send a positive message to the international sports community.
He added that hosting an international team demonstrates Pakistan’s peaceful and secure environment. According to him, successful organization of the series can encourage more countries to visit Pakistan for future sporting events.
Federal Secretary and Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Mohiuddin Wani also highlighted the importance of the tour. He said the visit would strengthen sports diplomacy and improve bilateral relations between Pakistan and South Korea.
The Government of Pakistan has assured the visiting team of comprehensive security, official protocol, and administrative support throughout their stay. Authorities have finalized arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of all matches and related activities.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation has also announced the complete schedule for the four-Test series. The first Test match will be played on July 30, 2026, at 5:15 PM Pakistan Standard Time.
The second Test is scheduled for August 1, 2026, also at 5:15 PM. The third match will take place on August 4, while the fourth and final Test will be played on August 7, with both matches beginning at 5:15 PM.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation has also confirmed the panel of technical officials for the series. International Umpire Manager Faiz Muhammad will serve as the Umpire Manager.
The umpiring panel includes Haroon Rashid, Yasir Khurshid, Fahad Ali Khan, Asad Abbas, and Sajid Raza. Muhammad Shafiq Bhatti has been appointed as the Technical Delegate for the series.
The judging panel will include Hamza Tufail from Peshawar, M. Waqas Ahmed, Adnan Shahzad, Mehboob Javed, and Mirza Javed. These officials will oversee the smooth conduct of the international matches.
