Pakistan will not negotiate with terrorist groups and will continue military operations until militant networks are dismantled, Director General ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said during a press conference in Rawalpindi.
The military spokesperson said militants had two choices: surrender in accordance with Pakistan’s Constitution and laws or face continued action by security forces.
Sharing figures from the ongoing counterterrorism campaign, he said security forces had conducted 40,348 intelligence-based operations across the country this year. According to him, 2,084 confirmed terrorists were killed during these actions.
The DG ISPR said the forces carried out an average of 194 operations every day and eliminated about 10 militants daily. Balochistan recorded the highest number of operations, while 1,971 were conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He also acknowledged the human cost of the campaign, saying 819 officers and soldiers were martyred during anti-terror operations this year. Pakistan also experienced 28 suicide attacks during the same period.

Discussing Balochistan, the spokesperson said the state would engage with residents and address genuine grievances rather than negotiate with disruptive groups. He alleged that influential interests and tribal elites had historically prevented poorer communities from benefiting from development.
The DG ISPR also claimed investigations had linked Afghan nationals to recent terrorist incidents in Tank and Karachi. He further alleged that Afghanistan’s Taliban administration was supporting militant elements. These were claims made during the briefing.
Addressing debate around the term “hard state,” he said it did not mean military rule. In his explanation, it referred to equal enforcement of the Constitution and law.
