The latest Mardan Board results have raised concerns over student performance at several government schools.
The results show low pass rates across a number of institutions. Some schools reportedly failed to produce even one successful candidate.
The concerns cover both Class 9 and Class 10 results. Several boys’ and girls’ schools recorded particularly weak academic performance.
Class 9 Results Show High Failure Rates
Class 9 results revealed major differences in performance between schools.
At Government High School Takai in Swabi, all 13 students who appeared reportedly failed their examinations.
Government College High School Dagai also recorded no successful candidates, according to the reported results.
At Government High School Mazahund Gadun in Swabi, all eight Class 9 students reportedly failed.
The situation was slightly better at two schools in Nowshera.
Government High School Khawrai and Government High School Darwazgai reportedly produced only one successful student each.
Failure rates at other institutions also remained high. Some schools reportedly recorded failure rates reaching 89 percent.
Other schools saw failure rates of around 76 percent.
Nearly a dozen schools also had students unable to secure even 50 percent marks.
Girls’ Schools Also Record Poor Results
Low pass rates were not limited to boys’ institutions.
Government Girls High School Mohib Banda recorded only three successful students from 59 Class 9 candidates.
Government Girls Higher Secondary School Akora Khattak in Nowshera also reported weak results.
Only two of its 33 students reportedly passed, resulting in a 94 percent failure rate.
These figures have added to concerns about academic performance across institutions covered by the Mardan Board.
Class 10 Matric Exams Results Raise Concerns
Performance in the Class 10 Matric Exams also highlighted problems at several schools.
Nine of the 10 schools highlighted in the reported results failed to achieve a 50 percent student pass rate.
Some candidates failed only one subject. Others were unsuccessful in multiple subjects.
Government Higher Secondary School Mohabbat Khan in Mardan recorded one of the weakest results.
Only one of its 27 students reportedly passed, securing a C grade.
School Performance Comes Under Focus
The latest Matric Exams results have brought renewed attention to educational performance in Mardan Board institutions.
Concerns had previously emerged over student results under the Peshawar Board. The Mardan Board figures have now placed more schools under scrutiny.
