Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has ordered strict action against corruption within the Motorway Police.
The minister has given the department one month to address corrupt practices among its officials. He warned that officials found involved in bribery or corruption would face serious consequences.
Such personnel could be removed from their positions. Criminal proceedings may also be initiated against those found responsible.
The instructions were issued as part of efforts to improve transparency and accountability within the department.
Motorway Police Ordered to Identify Corrupt Officials
Abdul Aleem Khan directed senior officials to identify personnel involved in corrupt practices. He referred to such officials as “black sheep” and ordered their removal from the department.
The minister made it clear that corruption would not be tolerated within the Motorway Police. The department’s leadership has been given one month to take action and improve internal accountability.
The move is aimed at ensuring better enforcement and maintaining public confidence in motorway operations.
Axle Load Policy to Be Enforced
The communications minister also ordered immediate enforcement of the axle load policy. He said vehicles carrying loads beyond permitted limits would not be allowed on motorways.
Overloaded vehicles can create problems for road infrastructure and motorway operations.
The government’s latest instructions seek to ensure that transporters follow the prescribed axle load requirements. The decision was discussed during a meeting with representatives of the goods transport sector.
Transporters’ Concerns to Be Addressed
During the meeting, Abdul Aleem Khan also listened to issues raised by goods transport representatives.
He assured transporters that their genuine concerns would be considered and addressed. The minister stressed the importance of cooperation between the government and the transport sector.
He encouraged stakeholders to resolve disagreements through dialogue rather than confrontation. The government wants transporters and relevant authorities to work together on outstanding issues.
At the same time, the minister maintained a firm position on enforcement of motorway regulations. The Motorway Police will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the axle load policy.
Officials will also be expected to improve transparency and take action against corruption within the department. The one-month deadline puts additional responsibility on the department’s senior leadership.
