RAWALPINDI: A 28-year-old female biker and TikToker, Komal Jan, died after falling into the Soan River in Rawalpindi.
The incident occurred near Defence Phase One, police said on Thursday. Authorities received an emergency call about a woman falling into the river.
Police teams reached the location and launched a search operation. Officials continued searching the area for several hours.
The search team later recovered the woman’s body from the river. Police identified her as Komal Jan after the recovery.
Motorcycle Found Near River
Police said a motorcycle belonging to the woman was parked near the river. Her handbag, helmet, and one mobile phone were found on the motorcycle.
Sources said Komal Jan worked for the Election Commission of Pakistan. She was also known for her interest in heavy-bike riding.
She regularly created videos for social media platforms. Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
According to investigators, the woman had spoken with her family shortly before the incident. Her family later told police that they considered the incident accidental.
Police Investigate TikTok Video
Police said the initial investigation suggests she fell into the river while recording a TikTok video.
Investigators recovered two mobile phones during the inquiry. One phone was found inside her handbag on the motorcycle.
The second phone was reportedly being used to record a TikTok video. Police are examining the available evidence to establish the exact sequence of events.
Officials have also recorded initial statements from eyewitnesses. These statements may help investigators understand what happened before the woman fell into the river.
Police said no family member has raised suspicion against anyone. Her relatives have described the incident as an accident.
Family Declines Legal Action
According to sources, the family informed police that they did not want to pursue legal action.
The family maintained that the death appeared to be accidental. Despite this, police continued their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities are examining the recovered phones and other available evidence. The investigation is aimed at determining how the incident occurred.
The body was sent for a post-mortem examination following the recovery. After the medical procedure, the family received the body. Relatives later took the body for burial.
