Punjab Makes Digital Inventory Mandatory For Arms Dealers

Punjab Makes Digital Inventory Mandatory For Arms Dealers

The Punjab Home Department has made digital inventory mandatory for all arms dealers across the province. The move aims to improve monitoring of weapons and support the government’s vision of a safer Punjab.

Under the new system, all Business Arms Licence (BAL) holders must record their existing stock online. They must also upload details of their purchases and sales through the department’s digital portal.

The system will maintain records of guns and ammunition held by licensed businesses. It will also provide digital details of arms purchases and sales conducted across Punjab.

The Home Department has now activated the inventory module for BAL holders. All arms dealers must enter their complete existing stock through the designated online portal.

The deadline for uploading existing inventory is August 26, 2026. Dealers must also ensure that purchase and sales information is properly recorded within the required timeframe.

The department has directed all arms dealers to complete their digital records before the deadline. Deputy commissioners have also received details of licensed dealers operating within their districts.

Deputy commissioners will monitor the process at the district level. They will ensure that dealers enter their existing stock into the online system.

After the records are updated, deputy commissioners will submit reports to the Punjab Home Department. The process is intended to create a centralized and updated record of licensed weapons.

Authorities have warned that failure to provide the required stock information could lead to legal action. Dealers who do not comply may face penalties under the applicable rules.

Possible action includes suspension of an arms licence and sealing of the business. Authorities may also impose fines for failing to provide the required inventory details.

The Home Department is also arranging training to help dealers understand the new digital system. The training will focus on the Punjab Arms Licence Inventory Module.

A special workshop is scheduled for Monday, August 24, at 10:30 a.m. It will take place at the Punjab Forensic Science Authority Auditorium.

Dealers will also have an option to participate online. They can join the session from the offices of their respective deputy commissioners.

Training arrangements have been made at deputy commissioners’ offices across Punjab. The sessions will help arms dealers learn how to use the online inventory portal.

Participants will also be able to raise questions during the workshop. They can discuss technical difficulties and seek guidance about the digital registration process.

The Punjab Home Department says the initiative will improve transparency in the licensing system. Digital records are also expected to make monitoring and verification more efficient.

The new system represents a shift from traditional recordkeeping toward centralized digital management. Authorities are encouraging licensed dealers to complete their records before the August 26 deadline.

The department has stressed that compliance is necessary for all relevant licence holders. Dealers are expected to ensure their inventory records remain complete and accurate under the new system.
