29 Bottled Water Brands Found Unsafe for Human Consumption

The Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources has declared 29 Water Brands unsafe. The council found serious quality issues in several bottled water products. PCRWR tested 230 bottled water samples from 20 major cities.

The samples were collected between April and June 2026. The council released its findings on Friday. The results were compared with bottled water standards set by PSQCA.

PCRWR found bacterial contamination in 22 Water Brands. The affected products were declared unsafe for human consumption.

The brands included Mai Sial Bottled Drinking Water and JERS Safe Life. Natural Pure Life and Natural Sip were also among the listed products. Other affected brands included Al Meer, Al Saha and Al Shifa. Royal Fina, Aqua Nice Pure Life and Noor Aqua were also identified.

Aqua Pure, Drinkwell Pure Drinking Water and Imperial Pure Drinking Water were included. Zalmi, Deep Blue and Aab-e-Haram were also found contaminated.

Vital Sip, Hunza Ulter Water and Rehydr8 Drink Pure Water were among the listed brands. Moya Mineral Water, Tynant Aqua and Aqua Pura Smart were also included. PCRWR also identified nine Water Brands with excessive sodium levels. The permissible sodium limit is 50 parts per million.

The affected brands included HR Water Healthy Life and A2Z Pure Bottled Drinking Water. Pure Drinking Water and Deep Blue Pure Drinking Water were also listed.

Sip Nest Purified Drinking Water and Aab-e-Haram exceeded the sodium limit. Aqua Life Bottled Drinking Water was also found above the permitted level. Water Drinkly and Alpha H2O Bottled Drinking Water were among the other affected brands.

The council also identified four brands with excessive total dissolved solids. The permitted TDS level is 500 parts per million.

A2Z Pure Bottled Drinking Water exceeded the limit. Imperial Pure Drinking Water, Aab-e-Haram and Alpha H2O were also affected.

Some brands appeared under more than one category. These included A2Z Pure Bottled Drinking Water, Aab-e-Haram and Alpha H2O.

PCRWR said the federal government requires quarterly monitoring of bottled water products. The monitoring covers commercially available bottled and mineral water.

The purpose is to regularly assess product quality and inform consumers. PCRWR also publishes its findings to improve public health awareness.

The council urged consumers to review water quality reports before buying bottled water. Consumers should remain careful when choosing packaged drinking products.

The latest findings highlight the importance of regular testing and quality control. Water Brands must meet established safety standards before reaching consumers.

PCRWR Director General Dr. Hifza Rasheed issued the latest findings. The council is expected to continue monitoring bottled water quality.
