Ufone and Telenor Pakistan could soon operate under a new brand following their merger.
The possible rebranding comes after regulatory progress involving the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.
According to sources, the PTA has given conditional approval for the proposed rebranding of the combined mobile operation.
However, Pak Telecom Mobile Limited must complete the required legal formalities before moving ahead.
The company must also inform the regulator before starting commercial or promotional activities under the proposed new identity.
Ufone-Telenor Rebranding Moves Forward
The development follows the amalgamation of Ufone and Telenor Pakistan under Pak Telecom Mobile Limited.
Following the merger, PTML now manages the two networks as part of a combined mobile operation. The company also manages their spectrum resources and combined customer base.
According to the provided details, the combined business serves more than 74 million subscribers across Pakistan.
This makes the future branding strategy an important development for millions of mobile users.
PTA Has Not Confirmed September 15 Launch
Reports have also circulated about a possible rebranding event on September 15.
However, the PTA has not confirmed that such an event will take place. Officials said the regulator had not received information regarding a September 15 launch event.
PTML has also not officially announced a date for launching the proposed new brand. Therefore, any specific launch date remains unconfirmed at this stage.
PTML Could Adopt e& Brand
Following the merger, PTML management proposed using the global “e&” brand for the combined mobile business.
Under the proposal, the new identity would replace the existing Ufone and Telenor Pakistan brands.
However, PTML has yet to make a final public announcement about the branding decision. The company has not officially confirmed the new brand name or launch date.
Details about how existing customers would transition to the new identity also remain unclear.
Legal Requirements Must Be Completed
Legal and corporate governance issues had previously delayed progress on the rebranding process.
The latest conditional approval could now allow PTML to move closer to introducing its new identity. However, the remaining legal requirements must first be completed.
PTML will also need to formally notify the PTA before beginning promotional or commercial activities under the new brand.
For now, Ufone and Telenor customers should wait for an official announcement from the company.
