Karachi experienced another hot and humid day as weather conditions increased discomfort across the city.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the feel-like Temperature reached 40.2°C. Humidity was recorded at 52%.
The combination of heat and humidity has increased the heat burden for residents.
Weather experts expect Karachi to remain hot during the day. However, some areas could receive rain and thunderstorms later.
The maximum Temperature is expected to remain between 38°C and 40°C.
However, the heat could feel much stronger in some locations. Perceived temperatures may range between 42°C and 48°C.
Thunderclouds May Develop After Noon
A weather analyst said thunderclouds could begin developing over Karachi’s suburban areas after midday.
Cloud formation could begin between 12pm and 1pm due to intense daytime heating. Some areas could experience rain, gusty winds and thunderstorms if these clouds develop further.
Areas near the M-9 motorway could receive rainfall.
Rain is also possible in DHA, Gadap and Damba Goth. Other areas with possible thunderstorms include Scheme 33, Malir and Gulshan-e-Hadeed.
Gulshan-e-Maymar, Port Qasim and Steel Town could also experience changing weather conditions.
According to the analyst, other parts of Karachi have a 45% to 60% chance of rainfall. Any rainfall is expected to remain light to moderate in many areas.
However, widespread or prolonged heavy rainfall is not currently expected across the entire city. The monsoon system over southern Pakistan remains relatively weak during this period.
Despite this, intense daytime heat can support local thundercloud development.
Rain Possible Across Parts of Sindh
Hot and humid conditions are also expected across most parts of Sindh. Southeastern areas could experience partly cloudy weather.
Rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are possible in Karachi and surrounding locations.
Similar conditions could affect Tharparkar, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Thatta. Isolated locations may also experience heavy rainfall or hailstorms.
Several parts of Sindh have recently recorded temperatures around or above 40°C.
Mithi and Nawabshah recorded the highest Temperature in the province at 42°C.
Hyderabad, Dadu, Mohenjo Daro and Thatta recorded 40°C. Sukkur recorded 39°C. Residents should remain cautious during the hottest hours of the day.
People should also remain alert for sudden thunderstorms, gusty winds and changing weather conditions.
