More than one million people have registered for the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme across Pakistan.
The government has also generated over 800,000 fuel subsidy tokens for eligible citizens. The figures show significant public participation in the initiative.
The scheme aims to reduce fuel costs for people using smaller vehicles. It covers motorcycle owners, rickshaw drivers and owners of vehicles up to 800cc.
Eligible citizens from across Pakistan can apply for the programme. The coverage also extends to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Fuel Relief Scheme Registration Messages Now Free
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has announced another change to the registration process.
Messages sent to 9771 for registration are now free of charge. Applicants previously had to pay Rs. 1.40 for sending the registration message.
IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said telecom companies were instructed to remove this fee.
The decision is expected to make the registration process more accessible. Eligible citizens can now send their registration message without paying the previous SMS charge.
Over 800,000 Fuel Subsidy Tokens Generated
More than 800,000 subsidy tokens have already been generated under the programme.
The tokens form part of the system used to provide fuel relief to eligible vehicle owners.
Meanwhile, registrations have crossed the one million mark nationwide. The programme is available to people who meet the government’s eligibility requirements.
Motorcycles and rickshaws are included under the initiative. Cars and other eligible vehicles with engines of up to 800cc are also covered.
