A new wave of Houthi missile and drone attacks has targeted southern Saudi Arabia, according to Saudi authorities.

A projectile struck a school in Najran on Friday, causing damage to the building.

Saudi Civil Defense described it as a hostile projectile launched by Houthi forces in Yemen. No casualties were initially reported following the school strike.

Emergency teams reached the location and carried out the required safety procedures.

The incident came alongside additional missile and drone attacks targeting other areas of southern Saudi Arabia.

Three Ballistic Missiles Intercepted Over Khamis Mushait

The Saudi-led coalition reported another series of attacks targeting Khamis Mushait.

Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles heading toward the southwestern city. Coalition spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki provided details about the interceptions.

He said one missile was intercepted at around 3am. Two other ballistic missiles targeting the same area had already been destroyed.

Saudi authorities also reported intercepting four Houthi drones during the latest attacks.

The latest Missile Strikes add to a series of recent cross-border incidents involving Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Missile Debris Causes Damage

Saudi authorities had reported additional interceptions on Thursday.

Two ballistic missiles were intercepted over Khamis Mushait and Jazan, according to the provided information. Four drones were also reportedly brought down over Khamis Mushait.

However, debris from an intercepted missile caused damage to buildings and vehicles.

Another incident was reported early Saturday in the Asir region.

Saudi authorities said debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell in Ahad Rafidah. At least one person was reportedly injured.

The debris also damaged a prayer room and several vehicles, according to Saudi reports.

Houthi Missile Strikes Follow Renewed Escalation

The latest Missile Strikes come amid renewed fighting involving Houthi forces in Yemen.

The Houthis have been involved in Yemen’s long-running conflict with the internationally recognised government and its allies.

Regional media have described the latest developments as a significant escalation in Saudi-Houthi tensions. The renewed confrontation follows several years of relative calm after a United Nations-brokered truce in 2022.

That agreement helped reduce major cross-border attacks and fighting, although Yemen’s wider conflict remained unresolved.

Saudi Authorities Respond to Latest Attacks

Saudi air defenses have responded to the latest attacks by intercepting missiles and drones.

Authorities have also deployed emergency teams following incidents involving falling debris and direct impacts. The Najran school sustained material damage, but no initial casualties were reported there.

Meanwhile, the incident in Ahad Rafidah reportedly left at least one person injured.
