Railway police officials in Karachi have been booked following allegations of assault and torture involving a City Wardens director. The case was registered after Saim Imran accused railway police personnel of beating him and taking him to an undisclosed location.
The incident reportedly occurred during a dispute over road construction and traffic management in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The allegations have prompted a response from Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab.
According to the complaint, Imran was performing traffic management duties near the Chakor Nullah when the incident took place. The road repair project has reportedly continued for four months between Natha Khan Bridge and Pehlwan Goth.
City Wardens Director Alleges Torture
According to the first information report (FIR), Railway Police Station House Officer Ahsan Rashid arrived at the site with other personnel. Imran alleged that the officers assaulted him during the dispute.
He claimed that the personnel forced him into a police mobile and took him to an undisclosed location. There, he was allegedly tied up and subjected to severe torture.
The FIR further alleges that the officials pressured Imran to hold their feet and lick their shoes. When he refused, they allegedly continued beating him until he lost consciousness.
Imran stated that he later regained consciousness at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The allegations have raised concerns about the treatment of public officials during disputes involving government departments.
The case against the railway police officials has brought the confrontation into public attention. However, the allegations remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings.
Karachi Mayor Promises Legal Action
Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab condemned the alleged treatment of the KMC official. He described the incident as a serious injustice against an employee of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
Wahab said legal action was being taken over the matter. He also expressed support for KMC employees and said the city would not tolerate mistreatment of its workers.
The mayor’s statement followed allegations that the dispute escalated while officials were managing traffic around an ongoing road repair project.
Sources said police had been directed not to take further action without approval from senior authorities. Further developments are expected as the matter proceeds through the relevant legal channels.
Railway Police Also Register Case Against KMC Officials
Meanwhile, railway police have also registered a separate case against KMC officials, including City Wardens Director Saim Imran.
The second FIR reportedly includes several serious allegations. These include attempted murder, terrorism, interference with official duties, encroachment on railway land and issuing death threats.
The two cases present competing allegations arising from the dispute. Investigators will need to examine the complaints and available evidence to establish the circumstances.
The incident has highlighted tensions between railway police and municipal officials over work near railway property. It has also raised questions about coordination between departments during road construction and traffic management.
Both cases are expected to proceed through the legal process. Further details may emerge as authorities investigate the allegations and determine responsibility.
