The energy ministry has taken legal action against 1,914 officers involved in electricity theft as part of its crackdown on power pilferage, a condition set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a $3 billion standby arrangement with the country.

Power Division Secretary Rashid Langrial mentioned that these officers, who had been “reassigned,” comprise 91 superintending engineers (SEs), 533 executive engineers (XENs), and 1,290 sub-divisional officers (SDOs).
This action is part of efforts to combat electricity theft and improve the country’s financial stability.
