Closure of Punjab Schools Amidst Pink Eye Outbreak

In response to the rapid outbreak of conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye, across Punjab, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has declared the temporary closure of all public and private schools in the province from Thursday through Saturday. This decision coincides with Friday’s Eid Milad un Nabi public holiday, resulting in an extended weekend for students.

Conjunctivitis has reached epidemic proportions in Punjab, particularly affecting school students. In light of this, Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the closure of all schools across the province starting tomorrow.

According to an official notification, it states, ‘In light of the increasing incidence of Conjunctivitis/Pink Eye Infection among school children, the Competent Authority is pleased to announce that all Public & Private Schools in the Province shall remain closed from Thursday (September 28) until Sunday (October 01).’
