Nobel Peace Prize Awarded to Jailed Iranian Activist Narges Mohammadi

Narges Mohammadi, an imprisoned women’s rights advocate in Iran, has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The Nobel Committee recognized her decades-long campaign for women’s rights and the abolition of the death penalty.

Mohammadi has been detained multiple times and is currently serving a 12-year sentence in Tehran’s Evin Prison. The Nobel Prize also serves as a recognition of the recent protests in Iran and a call for her release.
