Gaza hospitals on 'verge of collapse'

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported receiving warnings from Israeli authorities to evacuate al-Quds hospital in Gaza due to ongoing raids near the facility, while Israeli Defense Forces continued their bombardment, resulting in thousands of Palestinian casualties.

The situation in Gaza has deteriorated, with a severe humanitarian crisis as over 8,000 Palestinians have been killed, including thousands of children. Israel’s airstrikes and ground operations have caused panic and disrupted daily life in Gaza, affecting over a million displaced people.

Gaza is experiencing shortages of essential supplies, such as food, water, and medicine, due to the ongoing blockade. Hospitals are struggling due to a lack of electricity and medical resources, and only a limited amount of humanitarian aid has entered the region.

The UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, reiterated his plea for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and expressed deep concern about the escalating crisis. He urged all parties to step back from the brink and prioritize saving lives.

Nepal has been affected by the conflict, with ten Nepali students killed during the Hamas attack on October 7. A UN peacekeeper was also injured in Lebanon as border skirmishes intensified.

In Gaza, residents broke into UN warehouses to obtain essential supplies, highlighting the desperation as the conflict and siege persist. UNRWA expressed concern about the situation’s impact on civil order and its ability to deliver humanitarian aid.

Israel has initiated a ground invasion in Gaza’s northern region, leading to evacuations and warnings to residents. Hamas expressed readiness to release captives in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

Amid a temporary internet blackout in Gaza, connectivity is gradually being restored. Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite service offered support for internationally recognized aid organizations to access the internet in Gaza, similar to its role in Ukraine during the Russian invasion.
