In a statement, Secretary General Taha decried the relentless attacks within the besieged enclave, which have resulted in a high number of casualties, including the loss of thousands of lives, the injury of innocent civilians, including women and children, as well as medical personnel and journalists. Furthermore, he noted the deliberate destruction of various structures, including buildings, hospitals, schools, places of worship, and United Nations facilities.
Taha also pointed out that Israel continues to pose threats to hospitals and maintains restrictions on access to essential necessities such as food, medicine, water, and electricity. These actions are seen as constituting collective punishment, war crimes, and a blatant violation of both international law and international humanitarian law.
