WhatsApp has introduced a new set of text formatting tools to enhance messaging capabilities for its web client, as reported by WABetaInfo. This update follows the recent addition of the “search message by date” feature for WhatsApp’s desktop version and will initially be available to some beta testers.
The new text formatting tools include:
- Code Block: This tool is primarily designed for sharing code within WhatsApp, making it easier for software engineers and programmers. However, it can be used by all users to better highlight messages. To format text as a code block, users can enclose their text with backticks (`).
- Quote Block: The Quote Block allows users to respond to a specific part of a previous message. To create a quote block, simply add the “>” character before the text you want to quote.
- Lists: Lists provide a structured way to organize information. Users can create ordered lists by adding characters like “*”, “-“, or numbers before their text.
According to WABetaInfo, these tools are a significant improvement in enhancing the user experience when sharing text messages. They allow users to apply new styles to their messages, making it easier to convey technical or detailed information with precision, giving messages a more professional touch.
Initially launched for iOS, this feature will soon be available for Android users as well, following its rollout to more desktop users.
