Did Naseem Shah use his influence to get brothers picked in Islamabad United?

In the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Shah brothers, siblings of Pakistan’s star pacer Naseem Shah, will be playing for Islamabad United. Naseem Shah himself will be donning the same team’s colors.

During the PSL season nine draft, Islamabad United drafted pacers Hunain Shah and Ubaid Shah, completing the trio of Shah brothers in their squad. Hunain, aged 20, has been actively participating in domestic cricket for the past two years, while Ubaid has showcased his talent in junior-level cricket and has been outstanding in the ongoing U19 Asia Cup.

This marks the first time that three brothers will be part of the same side in the PSL, creating anticipation about the possibility of them playing together.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Naseem Shah dismissed the idea that he played a role in getting his brothers selected for the franchise, stating, “I am not the chief selector; I cannot bring my brothers into the team.” He emphasized that his brothers earned their place through hard work and dedication to cricket.

Having recently moved from Quetta Gladiators to Islamabad United, Naseem expressed that the team was “new” for him, and he hoped for a successful season nine. The young pacer acknowledged the challenge of making a comeback after an injury and highlighted the difficulty of bowling to skilled batters in the PSL.
