Ali Zafar Approves of Bollywood's Cover of 'Jhoom'

The highly anticipated Bollywood rendition of Pakistan’s chart-topping track “Jhoom” has finally been released, earning the approval of the original artist, Ali Zafar.

In contrast to previous instances where T-Series songs faced accusations of plagiarism, “Dil Jhoom” stands out by paying homage to the soulful melody created by Ali Zafar. The Teefa in Trouble star expressed his satisfaction with Bollywood’s recreation in response to a Twitter post by T-Series announcing the song’s release, stating, “Good stuff. I like it,” and endorsing the efforts put into the new rendition.

It is noteworthy that the recreation appears to adhere to all protocols of crediting the original artist, as Ali Zafar’s name prominently features in promotional materials and is acknowledged in the YouTube music video description for having “originally written and composed” the song.

Shreya Ghoshal, who collaborated with Vishal Mishra on the project, had previously shared her admiration for Ali Zafar and his music on Twitter. The accomplished singer expressed her excitement for the collaboration, identifying herself as a “big fan” of Zafar and anticipating fans’ rediscovery of the timeless track in the film Crakk.

Upon learning about the homage to his hit song, Ali Zafar responded graciously on Twitter, thanking Shreya Ghoshal for her kind words and acknowledging her as one of the most inspiring and iconic singers of their time.
