PTI Plans Supreme Court Action Against Poll Rigging

PTI

In Islamabad, PTI leader and lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat announced on Friday that the party intends to challenge alleged rigging in the February 8 general elections by approaching the Supreme Court.

Addressing the media, Marwat stated his intention to file a petition in the apex court against electoral fraud. Additionally, he mentioned plans to contest the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja and other members of the election body.

It’s worth noting that on February 21, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition seeking to invalidate the February 8 elections and imposed a fine of Rs0.5 million on the petitioner for non-appearance.

A three-member bench, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and including Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarrat Hilali, heard the petition filed by Brig (retd) Ali Khan.

The petition was disposed of after the petitioner withdrew it. Furthermore, the apex court prohibited Khan from using the title ‘brigadier’ before his name.

Earlier, on February 19, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to the petitioner through the Ministry of Defense, but due to his unavailability, he failed to appear before the court.
