Following the intermediate annual examinations, prospective medical students are eagerly awaiting updates on the Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2024.
In a recent development, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro (LUMHS) announced that it would not be administering the MDCAT this year. The responsibility for conducting the test in Sindh has been assigned to Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) for the third consecutive year, as mandated by the provincial government.

A notification was issued citing LUMHS Vice Chancellor Dr. Ikramuddin Ujjan’s inability to oversee this year’s MDCAT due to his son’s involvement in the examination. He recommended that another university should handle the task to ensure fairness and transparency.
MDCAT 2024 will consist of two parts, A and B. Part A will account for 95% of the test, featuring 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) distributed as follows:
- Biology: 35%
- Chemistry: 25%
- Physics: 25%
- English: 10%
Initially, there were speculations that People’s Medical University Nawabshah or Larkana Medical University might conduct the MDCAT. However, ultimately, DUHS was entrusted with the responsibility.
In the previous year, DUHS administered the MDCAT after the initial test by Jinnah Sindh Medical University was canceled due to a paper leak.
