Argentina has reported over 520,000 dengue cases since the beginning of this year, with an outbreak 3.17 times larger than last year’s. However, the Health Ministry noted a decline in cases in recent weeks.
In the first 27 weeks of 2024, health authorities recorded 520,037 dengue cases, accounting for 97 percent of the 537,249 cases registered since epidemiological week 31 of 2023, according to the ministry’s National Epidemiological Bulletin.

The central region reported the highest number of cases at 60.7 percent, followed by the northwest with 24.1 percent, and the northeast with 13.1 percent.
This year, there have been 392 deaths due to the mosquito-borne disease. The incidence rate is currently 1,141 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and has been declining for 13 weeks. The most common symptoms among those who died were fever, headache, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
