Imran Khan Requests Court Protection To Avoid Army Custody In May 9 Cases

Former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan has sought protection from the Lahore High Court to prevent potential military detention related to the May 9 cases.

Imran Khan, 71, filed a petition through his attorney Uzair Karamat Bhandari, naming the federal government and regional IGPs as respondents. He expressed concerns about being transferred to military custody and requested that any arrest be made by civilian authorities.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has appealed to the Supreme Court to revoke bail for individuals implicated in the May 9 riots, including 57 accused, among them top PTI leaders.

The army maintains a firm stance, asserting that there will be no leniency for those involved in the May 9 incidents, condemning the violence as an attempt to incite rebellion.
