Govt to Impose Radio Fees on Motorway Vehicles

Authorities are considering a new plan to address a revenue shortfall by introducing a radio fee for vehicles on motorways nationwide. This proposal was discussed at a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting.

Under the proposal, a fee of Rs5 would be collected from each vehicle at motorway exit points. Radio Pakistan Director General Ahmad Saeed revealed that the broadcaster is facing a revenue deficit exceeding Rs2 billion. He also noted that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has yet to release Rs60 million recovered from a pension scandal.

Currently, the federal government charges Rs35 for a television fee included in electricity bills.
